Jasper:  Happily Ever After

Picture

We adopted Jasper from NTRS in December 2005.  The picture is a few years old, but you may be interested to know that Jasper has been a happy family member with us ever since.  He has been with us through some big moments like getting our home and the addition of two children. Here in a few short weeks, he will celebrate his 7th birthday!

Fiver:  A Lonely Rabbit for Sale

Back in July 2010, A NTRS Volunteer saw a forlorn young brown and white Dutch mix rabbit all alone in a feed store.  His fur had a patch of harlequin around his left eye and another on his right rump.  He has beautiful long ears.

The main reason why nobody wanted him was that his left elbow was bent awkwardly as if it had been broken when he was a baby rabbit.  He was on sale for only $5.  (That is an attractive price as live python food).

The NTRS volunteer puchased him and took him home in a cardboard box.  We named him Fiver.
We took Fiver to Doctor Effie of CityVet (Oak Lawn) in Dallas for an examination and a health check.

At Fiver's checkup, his left front leg was found not to be broken.  Dr. Effie determined that Fiver had an elbow luxation (complete dislocation of the elbow joint) when he was very young.  Fiver already had muscle atrophy local to the elbow and he is not in any pain.

Our original intention was to foster Fiver at home because there was no room at the NTRS sancturary.  Then after he had recovered from his neuter surgery, we were to post his picture on Petfinder for his adoption.  However when that time came, he had already stolen our hearts and we just had to keep him as part of our family.

Nico, Piper, Tokki, and Ziggy:  Two Bunny Blog

Nico

Piper

This motley crew was all adopted from NTRS one step at a time.  In October 2010, Rich and Kerry were looking for a pet bunny and ran across the NTRS website.  They made several visits to connect with the correct bunny for their lifestyle and personality.

After a few weeks, Nico selected them, and the love for bunnies grew stronger.  The new fur kid parents realized that Nico needed a friend and Piper was bonded with Nico.

Then Rich fell in love with Tokki as soon as he saw her.  So, Tokki came home with the crazy bunny parents.

Lastly, Ziggy (aka Linus) was rescued by NTRS and Rich and Kerry sponsored Ziggy for his neuter procedure.  After a few more visits to NTRS, Kerry fell in love with Ziggy.

The bunny loving parents always had in mind that they wanted four bunnies, and now they have their motley crew of bunny love.  After all of this, Rich and Kerry document their bunnies’ life on their own bunny blog.
